Keeping in mind the popularity and benefits of Yoga,under the leadership of Hon. Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi,a resolution was passed by the United Nations to celebrate International Day of Yoga on 21st June every year.
Since 2015 yoga enthusiasts all over the world have been celebrating this day with great enthusiasm. International Day of Yoga have been celebrated with great fanfare with large participation in various cities of China and help in increase of people to people exchange between Indian and China and improve cultural exchange between the two old civilizations.
Today, yoga has emerged as the most important soft power tool that has definitively arrived in China. Yoga was first popularised in China through the television programmes in the 1980s on China Central Television (CCTV).
In last 20 years many Indian Yoga teachers have been teaching Yoga in all over China and have established institutions training hundreds and thousands of Yoga enthusiasts in China.
These institutions have been able to spread the essence of Indian traditional Yoga among the Chinese yoga enthusiasts.
Also Yoga college at Yunnan Minzu University has been established since 2015 and has been running successfully with two Indian Yoga experts appointed as visiting teachers by Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
